Jonathan & Giovanna’s Day of the Dead themed wedding

If you live in or around York and you haven’t been inside the newly refurbished Principal Hotel next door to York train station, you need to. It is just incredible. They have done an outstanding job of mixing the traditional and historic features with the bold and modern interiors. It is a beautiful wedding venue smack bang in the centre of York.

The spectacular Oak Room set the perfect scene for Jonathan and Giovanna’s ceremony. With warm and romantic wood tones and flooded with natural light, it is perfect for capturing the moments.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

When I first met these guys, they mentioned their hopes for incorporating Day of the Dead into their theme. They achieved their goal with impeccable style. Swirly Sweet did a brilliant job of creating a masterpiece for their wedding cake. With cool lilac flowers to match the bridesmaid dresses and chocolate sugar skulls to rock the edgy, yet pretty, look they wanted.

Katie Jane Miller filled the room with stunning flowers on every table. Just look at the colours in Giovanna’s bouquet, totally divine.

Giovanna’s Mum handpainted all of these sugar skull tea light holders.
